The entry channel is well marked and deep but woe be to the boater who wanders out of the channel. Dredgings make the south side of channel shallow. Rocks, hidden at high tide, line the north side of the channel. Trawler was holed and high and dry on north side of channel in 2009. As signage indicates, go very slow when passing through the inner breakwater opening as pilings create a blind intersection and there is lots of traffic coming south, just inside the breakwater pilings wall. Varies between 8 to 12 feet at zero tide
