Our beautiful nautical port located in the heart of the Saint-Laurent, on Île D’Orléans, was the fruit of the beneficial effects of the arrival of the Tall Ships in Quebec in 1984.The idea of having a marina for pleasure boats had germinated in the minds and desires of islanders who were passionate about sailing well before the start of Quebec 1984. In fact, a group had formed under the name of Club nautique de l’île d’Orléans Inc. 1979 .In 1983, the Federal government decided to build a network of ports of refuge for pleasure boats along the St. Lawrence River and was looking for private organizations to act as project managers for its subsequent construction and operation. In 1983, a group of 30 boaters created the Club Nautique de l’île Bacchus Inc. (CNIB) and submitted a project proposal for the construction, development, management and supervision of the construction work as project manager. The Minister recognized this proposal as being in accordance with the terms of application of the program and the group was appointed Project Manager on August 12, 1983.The founding president of the CNIB was Mr. Claude Picard, assisted by Mr. Jean-Marc Pouliot, vice-president.
