Delavan Lake Yacht Club, situated at 1501 Cedar Point Dr in Delavan, Wisconsin, is a storied maritime haven that has been a cornerstone of lake life since its inception on July 4, 1892. This historic club was founded with the completion of a race around Delavan Lake by Dr. Gideon von Bachelle, marking the beginning of a rich sailing tradition. The club’s original clubhouse, designed by the renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1902, was a masterpiece of geometric simplicity with board-and-batten siding and a low-hipped roof, featuring a central dance floor, dining room, and other amenities. Although the Wright-designed clubhouse was eventually demolished, the Delavan Lake Yacht Club continues to thrive, offering a blend of recreational activities and community spirit. Today, it stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of Delavan Lake, a vibrant hub for sailing, social gatherings, and the appreciation of natural beauty.
