The Fresno Yacht Club, situated at the heart of California’s Central Valley, has a rich history that dates back to September 1945. Here, a group of sailing enthusiasts, drawn to the newly formed Lake Millerton, came together to establish the Lake Millerton Sailing Association. This early club quickly grew, with membership swelling to 65 by 1946 and featuring a diverse fleet of boats.
In 1959, the association transformed into the Fresno Yacht Club, boasting over 100 members and a predominance of Lido 14’s. Today, the club is home to primarily keel-type boats, with the Victory 21, PHRF, and San Juan 21 fleets being the most prominent. The club’s main sailing venues are Millerton Lake and Huntington Lake, man-made lakes located northeast of Fresno, offering year-round racing at Millerton and summer-only events at Huntington.
With its deep-rooted history and scenic sailing grounds, the Fresno Yacht Club stands as a haven for sailing enthusiasts, welcoming new members to join in the passion for this timeless sport.
