Harwich Port Boat Works, situated at 4 Harbor Rd, Harwich Port, MA, stands as a testament to a century-long legacy of maritime craftsmanship. Founded in 1936 by shipbuilder Bill Lee, this esteemed marina continues the tradition that began on this land between Wychmere Harbor and Nantucket Sound. Originally known as Salt Water Pond, this area was transformed by local fishermen in the 1870s who hand-dug a channel to connect it to the sound, though it remained modest until the early 20th century.

The Wychmere Syndicate’s efforts to dredge a deeper channel and develop the surrounding real estate paved the way for Bill Lee to establish his boat works. In 1933, Lee moved his operations to the east side of the channel, building new sheds and a railway, and three years later, he founded Harwich Port Boat Works with a group of partners. Today, this marina is a hub of maritime activity, celebrating its rich history while providing top-notch services for boat enthusiasts and travelers alike. Its location offers a serene yet vibrant setting, reflecting the enduring spirit of maritime innovation and excellence.
