The James Island Yacht Club, established in 1898, stands as a venerable institution on the shores of Charleston Harbor. Located at 734 Wampler Drive, this esteemed club offers a rich tapestry of maritime tradition and modern amenities. Founded as part of an agricultural society, the club has evolved over the years, hosting sailing regattas and competitions that have become hallmarks of its legacy.
The club’s history is woven into the fabric of its activities, from the early days of building club boats like the LIZZIE B and CYGNET, to its current vibrant junior sailing program. This program, which has seen significant growth over the past decade, now accommodates over 120 young sailors each summer.
