Morehead City Transient Docks on Bogue Sound | Slips, Fuel, Amenities

The Morehead City Docks (MCD) located at 807 Shepard Street, is a mid-Atlantic stopping point for those cruising north/south, fishing the Bogue / Core Sound and Outer Banks’ waters, or beginning the ocean voyage to the Caribbean and beyond. This sheltered, deep-water basin has 8- to 10-foot minimum depths at dockside, and easy access to the intra-coastal Waterway and Beaufort Inlet. MCD offers 10 slips (26 feet to 50 feet long with widths to 20 feet). Floating docks assure easy passenger access to docked vessels regardless of tide conditions.

Leave the ICW to the north and enter the channel between the mainland and Charted Sugar Loaf Island. Morehead City Transient Docks are on the mainland side. They are new, floating docks, perpendicular to the current, which can be 3 knots or more at ebb and flood. Try to arrive around slack water for easiest docking. Monitor currents and plan to arrive/depart around slack water for easiest access to slips, which are perpendicular to the currents. Current timing is about 1 1/2 hour after the tide. Important Notes: The current runs in a crossing direction to the docks and at peak could be as much as 4 mph

The slips are 20 feet wide. Can accommodate wider boats on the outside of the eastern most slip. Will consider boats longer than 50 feet. Includes electric and water. Flat rate of $40.40 per night for boats 26 feet or less. Price is $1.55 per foot above 26 feet. 10 night stay maximum.
