Approaching the marina in Norwalk Harbor requires close attention to bridge clearances and opening schedules. The marina is situated on the right bank of the harbor, just past the Washington Street traffic bridge and the Metro-North railroad bridge, but just before the I-95 highway bridge. It lies directly across from Oyster Shell Park, making it a convenient landmark for navigation.

As you approach, the first bridge you’ll encounter is the Washington Street Bridge. This bridge offers a vertical clearance of 9 feet at mean high tide and 16 feet at mean low tide. It operates on demand, with mariners able to request an opening via VHF Channel 13 or by calling 203-866-7691. However, note that the bridge does not open during weekday rush hours: 7:00 to 8:45 AM, 11:45 AM to 1:15 PM, and 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Next is the Metro-North Railroad Bridge, which provides 16 feet of clearance at mean high tide and 23 feet at mean low tide. Unlike the Washington Street Bridge, this one requires a minimum of two hours’ advance notice to open. Requests can be made through VHF Channel 13 or by calling 212-340-2050. Be aware that this bridge will not open at all during the following daily blackout periods: 7:00 to 9:00 AM, 11:45 AM to 1:15 PM, and 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
