In 1966, a group of local individuals who enjoyed sailing decided to create a yacht club as an official body to ensure the continuation of recreational sailing on the Petpeswick Inlet. Today, this particular objective is most clearly demonstrated through our Learn to Sail Program, the only one of its kind on the Eastern Shore, for youth ranging in age from 5 to 18 years of age. Over these 50 years, we have grown and expanded our objectives to include all sorts of water-based sports and recreational activities which are popular with all age groups, and particularly popular with women. We have grown in our determination to be a community centre offering social events and activities that promote fitness, health, and a sense of belonging and well-being.In 1971, the current clubhouse was built on the yacht club premises. Renovations and improvements to the clubhouse over the years have allowed us to expand our programs, events, and services and the income from the clubhouse supports the marina facilities, helping to keep boating member costs as low as possible.
