Pete Morrison had come to the island in the 1940’s to clean fish- buying them from the pound boats and preparing them for market. He decided to cut out the middleman and bought a dragger to start fishing himself. Realizing he needed a place to dry and mend his nets, he bought a piece of land on the bay at the end of Second Street in Beach Haven. His wife, Peg Morrison, began making fish sandwiches and chowders for Pete’s crew and eventually word got out to the other baysiders and fishermen passing through. The Morrison’s installed a counter at the front of a shack. The rest is history.
