If approaching from the south, pay attention to the reef marked by a fixed concrete marker to the north and a green bouy to the south. It is quite shallow the closer you get to the concrete marker. If approaching from the north, watch the depth at Wind Point (with the lighthouse). Give it plenty of room. There are red bouys marking the end of the reef, but a typical pleasure craft (power or sail) do not need to go that far east to comfortably pass. There are no depth issues to worry about in the River or the Marina. The Root River has a little current. However, once inside the marina there is no current to speak of
