Richmond Yacht Club has long had a reputation as the “sailingest” club on San Francisco Bay. In 1932 a group of Richmond locals joined forces to form the Richmond Yacht Club. United by a common desire to promote affordable sailing, they built their own boats, sewed their own sails, constructed their own club house, and ran their own races. Over the years, this same do-it-yourself volunteer approach has characterized RYC, always with the primary emphasis on sailing and racing. Having finally settled at its current site in Brickyard Cove in the 1960s, RYC ‘s location and facilities make it a premier venue for a great variety of yachting activities. Our harbor and dry boat yard are home to many member boats, and our recently renovated clubhouse overlooking San Francisco Bay is ideal for events of all types. The club’s location on the Potrero Reach offers almost immediate access to the Bay and is ideal for both racing and pleasure sailing in boats large and small.
