The marina building complex, originally built as a quarantine hospital that was never used, was occupied by the Coast Guard from 1936 until World War II, the Navy during the war, then the Army, which used it during the Korean War. The old hospital building was a hotel for many years. The historic structures are now maintained by the Port of Port Townsend and house restaurants and various marine trades businesses.
