The Marina Marketing Association was formed in the fall of 1993 to promote the boating opportunities along the Canadian North Shore of Lake Superior.Many of the communities have been developing their marinas and waterfronts as an opportunity to attract marine tourism into their areas.The Association’s vision and objectives are:To support the development of a series of full service marinas along the Canadian North ShoreTo establish a defined tourist destination for cruisingTo establish facilities providing access to Lake Superior from the land and from the lake to the landTo encourage the business sector to provide support services for boatersTo develop a series of Lake Superior havens and rest stops for boaters comfort and safetyTo provide a safety and training program for marina operators and staffTo develop a self-supporting boating industry that will provide substantial economic benefit along the Canadian North ShoreTo establish a joint marketing effort involving communities, government and private sectorTo establish a working relationship with the North Channel Marine Tourism Council and the Friends of the Trent-Severn Waterway Tourism Partnership for the exchange of ideas, information, co-op marketing, networking and support.
