Founded by Doug Westin, who began his journey as an apprentice boat builder under Sam Jorgensen, the marina has a rich history that dates back to the 1930s. The property, once home to the Sayville Yacht Club and later Doug Westin’s summer family home, was initially Gerry’s Boat Basin before Westin’s acquisition.

Over the years, the marina has expanded significantly, with the purchase of adjacent land in 1957 and the addition of a modern travel lift and several storage buildings.
