A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into state parks and recreation areas, including this one. For non-residents, a recreation passport is $39 for a year’s access and $11 for one day. For residents, a recreation passport is $13 if you buy it at the time of your license plate registration/renewal and $18 otherwise. A two-year option is $26 if you acquire it when registering/renewing your license plate. Passports for motorcycles and mopeds are $7 or $12, depending on whether they’re bought with registration/renewal. Resident passports can’t be purchased online. You must pay by cash or check at the state park or a Department of Natural Resources customer service center.
From Detroit, take I-94 E for approximately 50 miles, then merge onto I-75 N. Continue for about 20 miles before taking exit 42 for M-29 toward Algonac. Follow M-29 for a scenic drive along the waterfront, leading directly to your destination, where nature and tranquility await.
