Running from mid-August through Labor Day, the Alaska State Fair at the Palmer Fairgrounds features carnival rides, nightly headline concerts on the Grandstand (country, rock & pop acts), giant vegetable competitions (world’s largest cabbages!), a pro rodeo, petting zoo and agricultural exhibits. Local artisans sell handcrafted goods in the barn marketplace. Sunset fireworks every Saturday night add to the festivities.
