Event details
Anchorage RunFest spreads one of Alaska’s broadest race menus across two days, offering everything from a 49K ultra and full marathon to a half marathon, relay, 5K, mile, and youth event across the schedule. Anchorage’s trail network and mountain skyline give even a short city race a distinctly northern character that a flatter urban course elsewhere could never quite replicate.
That range of distances is what makes RunFest genuinely workable for a family with mixed running ambitions: a serious ultrarunner and a child running the youth mile can both take part on the same weekend, finishing in time to celebrate together rather than attending separate events entirely on opposite ends of the city and calendar.
Multiple start times and packet pickup logistics make a downtown Anchorage stay useful for the full weekend of racing. Spectating is free, and registration varies by race chosen. Add a coastal-trail bike ride, a Chugach hike, or a day trip before or after the running weekend to round out a visit built around more than just the races themselves.
