Blue Angels return for JBER’s major aviation weekend
Two free days of military and civilian aviation feature the Blue Angels, Golden Knights, static displays, and family activities at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson opens its runways for two days of military and civilian aviation, headlined in 2026 by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels’ first JBER appearance since 2016, alongside the Golden Knights and extensive static aircraft displays across the base. The rarity of the Blue Angels’ return gives this year’s show exceptional statewide draw well beyond a typical open house crowd.
For families, the open house offers a genuinely hands-on aviation experience: static displays let children walk beneath aircraft they’d otherwise only see overhead, while the flight demonstrations overhead punctuate the day with the kind of spectacle that sticks in a young traveler’s memory long after the show ends and everyone finally heads home for the evening.
Gates run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, and admission is free, though visitors should expect security screening, traffic controls, and considerable walking between viewing areas across the base. Staying in Anchorage simplifies an early arrival and gives families flexibility across both show days. Review prohibited items and transportation guidance before departure for the base itself.
