What is the Broadwater Rod & Gun Club Walleye Derby?
The Broadwater Rod & Gun Club Walleye Derby is an exciting annual fishing tournament that takes place on Canyon Ferry Lake in Townsend, Montana. Scheduled for July 19, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, this fishing event offers a fantastic experience for anglers of all ages and skill levels. Set at Broadwater Bay near the Silos, it’s a family-friendly competition that brings together fishing enthusiasts to enjoy a day on the water. The event welcomes up to 90 two-person teams, fostering a spirited atmosphere for friendly competition and camaraderie amongst participants.

How Can You Join the Fishing Tournament?
If you want to participate, be sure to register early to take advantage of the discount on the entry fee, bringing it down to just $100 if you register by July 1, 2025. Cash prizes are available for the top teams in three distinct categories: female/female, male/female, and adult/child, with the first-place team winning an enticing $1,000 based on a full roster of 90 teams. While participants are allowed up to five people on a boat, only two may fish at any given time. The tournament employs a catch-and-release format, but each entrant can keep one fish for the purpose of trophies, ensuring that both competitiveness and conservation principles are upheld.

What to Expect Before the Derby?
To prepare for the tournament, a mandatory pre-tournament meeting is set for July 18, 2025, at 7 PM. Held at the Broadwater Rod & Gun Club indoor shooting range, this meeting is crucial for all participants to understand the event’s rules and guidelines.
