Event details

From early July through late August 2025, the Catch Rate Tournament Series invites anglers of all ages and skill levels to experience the thrill of fishing at Chatfield Reservoir, just south of Denver. This weekly event, held every Wednesday evening, offers a friendly and competitive atmosphere where participants can reel in a variety of fish species, including trout, walleye, bass, and carp. The serene setting of Chatfield Reservoir, surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, provides a picturesque backdrop for families, friends, and solo anglers alike.

Each tournament features individual categories for different fish species, with cash prizes awarded to the top five anglers in each category. First-place winners also receive an Eagle Claw Prize Pack and a $100 Bass Pro/Cabela’s gift card. Special events throughout the series include the “Beat Nate” challenges, where anglers have the opportunity to win a $250 cash bonus by catching a larger fish than the tournament leader, Nate. The series culminates on August 27, 2025, with an award ceremony to honor the Angler Champions of the Year.

This event is perfect for families seeking a fun and low-stress outdoor activity, pet-loving travelers can enjoy the dog-friendly environment, romantic couples can find quiet corners for scenic photo opportunities, and large reunion groups will appreciate the ample space and group activities. The Catch Rate Tournament Series fosters a sense of community and togetherness, allowing participants to connect with nature and create lasting memories by the lake. To participate, anglers should bring a fishing license, a measure board (provided), and a camera phone to document their catches. Entry fees are $20 per angler per species, and registration is available online. For those traveling from out of town, nearby lodging options can be found on Lake.com.
