Pancakes, parade, and a full day in Green
A family-friendly Memorial Day schedule in Green with a pancake breakfast, parade, ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, plus a car show and picnic.
Event details
The City of Green Memorial Day Parade, Ceremony & Car Show delivers a full-day Memorial Day program in Green, Ohio, in the Akron-Canton region. You can start at 7:00 AM with a pancake breakfast at Fire Station #1, where donations support local non-profits. At 10:00 AM, you’ll take your place along Massillon Road as the parade departs from Green High School and rolls south with local bands, civic groups, and community organizations.
By noon, the day shifts to Veterans Memorial Park for a Memorial Day ceremony that centers the holiday’s purpose, honoring local veterans and fallen service members. Plan to arrive early and park at the John Torok Senior Center or Queen of Heaven Church, since Steese Road closes during the ceremony. Good to know: parking at Fire Station #1 is reserved strictly for vehicles with handicap permits.
After the ceremony, the mood loosens without losing its respect. From 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, the park hosts a car show and picnic where you can browse vintage and custom vehicles and settle in for lunch. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket for both the parade route and the afternoon on the grass, and pack water plus high-SPF sunscreen for the open park setting.
If weather looks uncertain, check the city website for parade status by 7:30 AM on event day. Visiting from outside the area, you’ll be most convenient staying near the Arlington Road corridor, or you can base yourself near Portage Lakes through Lake.com and drive in. If you’re bringing a vehicle for the show, arrive right after the parade since entry is typically first-come, first-served, and if you’re bringing a dog, keep it leashed and account for noise and crowds.
