Event details
The Devon Horse Show & Country Fair signals the start of summer on the Main Line in Devon, Pennsylvania. As the oldest and largest outdoor multi-breed horse competition in the United States, this twelve-day tradition pairs top-tier equestrian sport with a classic community fair. You will spend much of your time at the Dixon Oval, where championship classes bring elite riders and horses into close view, then step next door to fairgrounds built for easy wandering, casual meals, and meeting friends between rounds.
You can move between high-stakes competition and a lighter festival pace throughout the day. Plan to watch marquee jumper classes, then reset at the Country Fair with a Ferris wheel, carousel, and a well-edited lineup of boutiques. We like the vendor cottages for practical finds and tasteful souvenirs, from riding gear at Charles Ancona to home-focused pieces at Valley Forge Flowers. When you want the full Devon experience, follow the lines for lemon sticks, fudge, and traditional tea sandwiches.
Competition runs from morning into the evening, with major jumping classes often held under the lights. Junior Weekend (May 21 to May 24, 2026) spotlights younger riders and pony divisions, while Ladies Day lands on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with the celebrated hat contest. The Sapphire Grand Prix is typically held on the second Thursday evening and is the week’s signature jumping event. On the first Sunday, the Carriage Pleasure Drive starts at St. David’s Church and finishes in the Dixon Oval.
For a smooth visit, arrive early, gates open at 8:00 AM, and general admission bench seating is first-come, first-served. General admission is typically $20 for adults and $10 for children and seniors, while premier nights may cost more or require reserved seats. Parking on Dorset Road is limited, so you will do better with the Devon train station lot across the street or local church lots with shuttle service. The show runs rain or shine, so bring sunscreen for open seating and a light jacket for cooler evenings. For the shortest commute, stay in Devon, Wayne, or Radnor, and note that pets are generally not permitted during the show.
