Event details

If your crew learns best by seeing and hearing it, Port Hudson’s Firepower!! program delivers. Costumed interpreters walk visitors through how Civil War weapons were loaded and fired, then cap the hour with the site’s famously loud 42‑pounder cannon.

Pair the demo with a self-guided loop through earthworks and river-view overlooks on the Mississippi bluffs. It’s an easy spring day trip from Baton Rouge, with plenty of open space for kids to roam between history stops.
