Craft beer tastings and music in downtown Marktplatz
Sample Texas craft brews downtown with a souvenir glass, live music, and food court favorites—an ideal summer kickoff with friends.
Event details
Every June, Marktplatz transforms into an open-air tasting room where Texas craft breweries pour their best work under the Hill Country sun. The Fredericksburg Craft Beer Festival, held Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., brings together brewers from Austin, San Antonio, and across the state for a day of sampling, live music, and cornhole competitions. Your $25 admission includes eight tickets (good for beer samples, drinks, food, or merchandise), a souvenir tasting glass, and access to the food court and Suds & Tastes tent where local chefs pair their dishes with specific brews. Kids under 21 pay $5, ages 7-12 pay $1, and kids 6 and under get in free. The festival benefits the Fredericksburg Rotary Club Foundation, with 80% of proceeds supporting local charities.
Beer enthusiasts, couples looking for a casual day out, and groups of friends will enjoy the mix of established Texas breweries like Shiner and Deep Ellum alongside smaller operations like Altstadt Brewery and Twisted X. Past festivals have featured stein hoist competitions and brewing seminars in addition to the tasting. Parking is available in public lots behind Main Street, though arrive by 10:30 a.m. for the closest spots (some street closures affect the area starting Friday morning). VIP tickets ($150) include admission to Friday night’s Awards Ceremony and Dinner at Altstadt Brewery, with brewery tours and two complimentary beers before Saturday’s main event.
Early June in Fredericksburg means hot afternoons (90s) with little shade on Marktplatz, so dress light, wear a hat, and reapply sunscreen throughout the day. Bring cash for additional food and merchandise beyond your ticket allotment. If rain threatens, most vendors operate under pop-up tents, though the open plaza can get slick. Pair the festival with a Hill Country weekend itinerary by spending Friday touring wildflower routes and swimming at nearby spots like the Pedernales River or Canyon Lake. Lake.com has rentals near both Canyon Lake and Lake LBJ, giving you a cool lakefront retreat after a day of tasting in the sun.
