Canaan Valley’s biggest winter-to-spring crossover weekend is the Governor’s Cup Ski Race at Timberline Mountain. Spend March 7–8 watching racers carve the course during one of the region’s longstanding ski competitions, then take your own laps on Timberline’s wide runs.
Off the hill, Davis and Thomas are close for hot chocolate, galleries, and easy strolls along the Blackwater River. Families can mix race-day energy with a relaxed mountain basecamp before the snow gives way to spring hikes.
