Event details

Hancock Whitney CCA Louisiana STAR turns your summer into a 101-day reason to chase fish across the Louisiana coast, from the marshes of Venice to the nearshore waters off Grand Isle. Fishing opens May 23, 2026, and runs through September 7, 2026, so you can plan weekend runs, long holidays, or a full season of dawn launches. One registration covers the whole window, letting you fish when conditions are right.

You compete in divisions for speckled trout, mangrove snapper, cobia, and yellowfin tuna, with the Tagged Redfish Division drawing the most attention. CCA releases 100 tagged redfish, and landing one can put you in line for major prizes that have included trucks and boat packages. Weigh stations are spread across 27 marinas statewide, so you are not tied to a single location or a single tournament weekend.

To qualify, you must be a current CCA member and registered before you catch the fish you plan to enter. Adult entry is $35 for members, and youth entries are free with a New Tide membership. Sign up before your first trip, confirm your nearest weigh station before you leave the dock, and bring a high-quality cooler and plenty of ice to keep fish scale-ready. For real-time momentum shifts, watch the CCA Louisiana Facebook page for tagged fish reports and leaderboard updates.

This is built for families, couples, and friend groups, with youth and ladies divisions keeping the field welcoming from first-timers to seasoned locals. Book your base where you fish, whether that is a camp or lodge near Grand Isle, Cocodrie, or another waterfront hub, and consider browsing Lake.com for regional stays. You can sit out bad weather and fish on your chosen days, but every catch must follow Louisiana state law and the division-specific rules, including catch and release requirements for Tagged Redfish.
