Omaha’s Hometown Half brings race-day energy downtown
Run, walk, or cheer on Omaha’s Hometown Half, 10K, and 5K as the course threads city trails and finishes with post-race snacks.
Event details
The Hometown Half Marathon and 5K/10K Omaha opens Memorial Day weekend with a course that shows off the city’s residential side. You start at Stinson Park in Aksarben Village, then follow neighborhood streets and tree-lined trails on flat, paved routes that keep pacing straightforward. With multiple distances, you can treat it as a tune-up, a goal race, or a clean start to summer training.
Race morning is built for spectators, so your crew can post up along the course and still make it back to the finish without hassle. The start area at Stinson Park runs smooth for first-timers and experienced runners alike, and the finish line becomes the focal point for snacks, medals, and an easy post-race reset. If you travel with a running club or you are pairing the weekend with a Nebraska road trip, you will find plenty of familiar energy on site.
Plan ahead to keep the logistics simple. Register by the Thursday two weeks before race day if you want the best shot at your preferred shirt size, and arrive about 60 minutes early to park near Aksarben Village, use the restrooms, and warm up. Dress for late-spring swings with moisture-wicking layers, and choose road shoes you trust on pavement. If parking looks tight, use a ride-share; and if the event caps out or weather changes, virtual options are typically available so you can still earn your gear. Youth pricing is usually offered for ages 12 and under in the 5K and 10K.
For the cleanest commute, stay near Aksarben Village or Midtown Crossing. If you want a quieter base after the race, you can also book regional rentals through Lake.com near Nebraska waterways. Most entries are non-refundable, with race insurance often offered at checkout; strollers are generally allowed; and chip-timed results typically post at the registration tent soon after you finish.
