Event details

The Jackson Hole Fourth of July Parade is free, family friendly, and anchors what locals consider the most exciting weekend of the year.

Organized by the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce, the parade typically begins at 10:00 AM, with some years starting at 10:30 AM. Entries gather at the Teton County Fairgrounds by 9:00 AM. The route runs down Snow King Avenue to Glenwood Street, turns onto Broadway Avenue past Town Square where float judging takes place, and concludes on Willow Street. The full parade lasts roughly two hours.

The Lions Club Pancake Breakfast fuels the morning on Deloney Street adjacent to Town Square from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Prices are $15 for adults, $7 for ages four to seven, and free for children under four. Prime parade viewing requires early arrival, as spectators line the route with chairs and the area near the Town Square grandstand fills first.

The Town Square Shootout at 6:00 PM sets Jackson apart from every other mountain town. This 20 minute reenactment of frontier justice, performed by Jackson Hole Playhouse actors, has run continuously since 1957 and is recognized as the longest running gunfight show in the United States. It has been witnessed by more than four million people. Arrive by 5:30 PM and claim a spot at the northeast corner of Town Square.

Fireworks require careful planning. The only July 3 fireworks take place at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at 10:00 PM, following the free Concert on the Commons at Teton Village. On July 4 itself, dual fireworks displays launch at 10:00 PM from both Snow King Mountain and Teton Village.

Fireworks are prohibited in Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Bridger Teton National Forest due to fire danger, limiting viewing to these designated locations. Snow King’s base area at Phil Baux Park opens at 7:30 PM with food trucks and music before the fireworks display.

The Grand Teton Music Festival presents its Patriotic Pops concert at the Center for the Arts at 7:00 PM on July 4, offering free lawn seating and reserved seats priced at $35. The Jackson Hole Rodeo also hosts its always popular July 4 performance at 8:00 PM.

Hotel availability is the primary booking challenge for the weekend. Properties along the parade route, including Antler Inn which allows viewing directly from the property, as well as other Town Square Inns locations such as 49er Inn, Cowboy Village Resort, and Elk Country Inn, should be reserved months in advance.

Dinner reservations are essential, and breakfast favorites like Nora’s Fish Creek Inn, known for its huevos rancheros and banana bread French toast, and The Bunnery, established in 1975 and famous for its O.S.M. breads, often have significant waits.
