Event details

Embark on a memorable adventure with the Junior Ranger Program, a delightful experience designed for children aged 7 to 12 and their families. This program invites young explorers to engage with California’s rich natural and cultural heritage through interactive activities like scavenger hunts, crosswords, and even poetry writing.

Participants can pick up activity books at park visitor centers or download them online, guiding them to discover the park’s hidden gems and learn about its significance. Upon completing the activities, children are awarded a badge, patch, or certificate unique to each park, celebrating their newfound knowledge and appreciation for nature.

The Junior Ranger Program is available at numerous California State Parks, including popular destinations like Yosemite National Park, Muir Woods National Monument, and Lake Tahoe Basin. Each park offers its own unique set of activities and rewards, ensuring that every visit provides a fresh and exciting experience. Whether you’re hiking through ancient redwood forests, exploring alpine lakes, or learning about local wildlife, the program fosters a deep connection to the natural world. It’s an opportunity for families to bond over shared adventures, create lasting memories, and instill a love for conservation in the next generation.

To participate, simply visit any participating California State Park between March 21 and August 31, 2026. Activity books are available at park visitor centers or can be downloaded from the California State Parks website.
