Event details
The 14th Annual Levitate Music and Arts Festival lands at the Marshfield Fairgrounds on July 18 and 19, 2026, with a lineup that represents the most ambitious two days in the festival’s history. Levitate began in 2013 as an anniversary party for a South Shore surf and skate shop — a grassroots gesture from a community-minded business that turned into one of New England’s most reliably sold-out outdoor festivals. It now draws 12,000 attendees per day across a grounds that mixes nationally touring headliners, 30 locally sourced food trucks, 60-plus artisan vendors, live muralists, and a dedicated Kids Zone with camp counselors, all within thirty miles of Boston and within earshot of the Atlantic.
Alanis Morissette, Caamp, and an Exceptional Supporting Cast
The 2026 headliners are as strong as the festival has ever announced. Alanis Morissette plays Saturday’s closing set on the main stage, and Caamp — the Ohio-born folk and Americana duo whose understated songwriting has built one of the most devoted festival followings in independent music — headlines Sunday. The supporting lineup spans the full width of the festival’s aesthetic: Ziggy Marley on Saturday, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, the Australian indie-pop duo Royel Otis, Sammy Rae and The Friends, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Larkin Poe, The Movement, Pepper, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, Bebe Stockwell, Surfer Girl, and Jammy Buffet. The Levitate Foundation Songwriter’s Stage introduces four unsigned local artists selected through a fan and industry vote, each of whom receives grant funding for a professionally produced album — a music-development program that distinguishes Levitate from most festivals its size.
Beyond the Music: Food, Art, and the Grounds
The food program is one of the strongest elements of the Levitate experience and is deliberately local. More than 30 food trucks are curated for grassroots fit rather than franchise recognition — expect farm-to-table bowls, wood-fired pizza, house-smoked barbecue, handmade baked goods, and smoothies alongside the bar program’s craft beer, ready-to-drink cocktails, and canned water. The Creators Market brings 60-plus artisans with hand-blown glass, locally thrown pottery, original paintings, and textile work. Live muralists work in real time on large-format canvas across the festival grounds. The Kids Zone, staffed by Levitate Camp Counselors, runs independently of the main stage activity and keeps the festival genuinely accessible for parents who want to catch a full set without managing restless children beside the rail. Note that Saturday VIP tickets are already sold out at time of research; a limited allocation of two-day and Sunday VIP passes remains. General admission pricing: two-day GA $229, single-day GA $129, children ages 4 to 12 $60, toddlers free.
Getting There and Making It Work
Marshfield Fairgrounds is located approximately thirty miles south of Boston and thirty miles north of Plymouth, accessible via Route 3 to Route 139. Parking is available on the fairgrounds and in designated overflow lots; the festival is all-ages and runs from mid-morning through late evening on both days. July on the Massachusetts South Shore averages in the mid-80s Fahrenheit with high humidity and sea-influenced afternoon breezes; the grounds have shade in spots but the main stage area is open — bring hats, sunscreen, and a light layer for the cooling evening sets. Reusable water containers are encouraged. Dogs are not permitted on the festival grounds. Rain plan: Levitate has historically run through all weather short of dangerous lightning; bring a rain layer and do not expect cancellations for typical summer showers.
South Shore Waterfront Stays on Lake.com
Marshfield and the surrounding South Shore towns sit directly on the Atlantic, and the festivals’ proximity to the coast makes a multi-day stay straightforward. For inland water options, the ponds and freshwater lakes of Plymouth County — Long Pond in Carver, Monponsett Pond in Halifax — are within twenty minutes of the fairgrounds and offer lakeside rental inventory through Lake.com that suits families who want quieter mornings away from the beach crowds. Search South Shore and Plymouth County waterfront options on Lake.com for July availability. The Levitate weekend is a legitimate anchor for a full New England summer week.
