Memorial weekend cruises return on Bismarck’s Missouri River
Kick off summer on the Lewis & Clark Riverboat in Bismarck with public cruises on the Missouri River, starting Memorial Day weekend.
Event details
Memorial Day weekend marks the start of the Lewis and Clark Riverboat Season Kickoff Cruises in Bismarck, North Dakota. You board at the Port of Bismarck, also called The Landing, and cruise the Missouri River on a classic paddlewheeler. The 90 minute loop delivers broad sightlines of river bluffs and the valley, with an easy pace that works for families, couples, and friends.
Onboard, the focus stays on the landscape. You can choose a climate controlled cabin or step outside to the open air decks, then move between both as conditions change. If you want a strong finish to the day, book a later departure and plan to be on the upper deck for sunset views.
Plan ahead for the holiday weekend. Tickets are $14 and usually sell out, so reserve online and arrive at least 30 minutes before departure for boarding. Bring a light jacket or windbreaker since the river can feel cooler than shore, and if your preferred cruise is full, check weekday sailings right after the holiday.
Parking is available at the Port at 1700 N River Rd, and you can also arrive via the riverfront trail system. The boat is accessible for guests with limited mobility, though the upper deck requires stairs. Light snacks and drinks are typically available at the bar, and cruises may pause for high winds or severe storms, even if light rain is manageable. For lodging, stay downtown or in north Bismarck for quick riverfront access, or book a quieter regional rental through Lake.com.
