Seattle memorial service with flags and music
Evergreen Washelli’s Memorial Day program includes flag placement and a community service—an easy, meaningful stop before lakeside walks at Green Lake.
Event details
The Memorial Day Celebration at Evergreen Washelli brings Seattle together for a morning of reflection at one of the city’s most significant memorial parks. You will be in North Seattle near Green Lake and Haller Lake, where a formal service and the placement of thousands of American flags set a quiet, respectful tone. If you want a meaningful start to the holiday, this is where you come to honor those who served, alongside families, veterans, and volunteers.
Plan to arrive by 9:30 AM for the best chance at parking inside the cemetery or on nearby streets, then settle in for the 10:00 AM start. You can expect guest speakers, patriotic music, and a wreath-laying ceremony, followed by time to walk the grounds and take in the scale of the flag display. The event is free, open to all, and it proceeds rain or shine.
Dress for an outdoor morning: wear comfortable walking shoes for grassy, uneven sections, and bring a light jacket or umbrella for late May weather. If you are coming with kids, remind them to stay respectful around gravesites. Dogs are permitted on leash, and we recommend keeping them on paved paths during the formal service.
After the program, you can extend the day with an easy walk around Green Lake Park, or drive west to Golden Gardens for water views later on. For nearby lodging, look in Northgate or Green Lake, or use Lake.com to book a quiet house as a convenient base. Most of the formal program takes place in a centralized area that works well for limited mobility, though deeper rows can be harder to navigate, and portable restrooms are usually available near the main service area.
