Event details

Bracebridge honors Canada’s birthday Tuesday, July 1, 2026, with a full-day celebration that unfolds across downtown and concludes with fireworks over Bracebridge Falls at 10 PM, a signature Muskoka moment that draws crowds from across cottage country. The day follows a natural rhythm: afternoon music, evening street party, night-sky spectacle.

The Rotary Club of Bracebridge kicks things off at noon in Memorial Park with live music that continues until 4 PM, setting a relaxed tone before the main event. At 4 PM, the Downtown Bracebridge Business Improvement Area transforms Manitoba Street into a street festival running until 9 PM, with food trucks serving everything from gourmet tacos to classic poutine, cottage games (pickleball, badminton, cornhole, Yardzee), downtown art displays, and local businesses staying open with special Canada Day promotions. The free event encourages wandering, grab a bite, browse the shops, challenge strangers to cornhole, repeat.

As dusk settles around 9:30 PM, crowds migrate to Bracebridge Bay where the Rotary Club’s fireworks spectacular lights up the sky at 10 PM, with the Bracebridge Falls providing dramatic natural backdrop. The falls, cascading through downtown’s historic mill district, create one of Ontario’s most photogenic fireworks settings. Many spectators claim waterfront positions hours early, bringing blankets and takeout from nearby restaurants.

Downtown Bracebridge, built where the Muskoka River tumbles through a series of dramatic drops, capitalizes on its geography, the Manitoba Street downtown core sits steps from multiple waterfall viewpoints, making it easy to split time between street festival energy and riverside calm. Bracebridge Bay connects to the broader Lake Muskoka system, with the river serving as the town’s defining natural feature year-round.

For dinner before fireworks, The Old Station Restaurant, 88 Manitoba Street, established 1985, occupies the former Uptown Service Gas Station, preserving original brick and character including two large pillars and a striking maple tree trunk centerpiece. Their summer patio and locally-sourced menu (prime rib is the signature) make it a pre-fireworks favorite.

El Pueblito, 155 Manitoba Street, established 2016, serves authentic Mexican cuisine, owners Marlenne and Mike Rickard transformed their fine dining establishment into Muskoka’s best Mexican restaurant, drawing foodies from Orillia and Barrie for salty margaritas and traditional dishes. Alternatively, Riverwalk Restaurant perches directly over Bracebridge Falls with windows on three sides overlooking the cascades, Chef David Friesen’s Mediterranean-influenced menu and waterfall views create intimate atmosphere perfect for celebrating Canada’s birthday in style.

The long weekend invites exploration beyond downtown: Wilson’s Falls and High Falls provide additional waterfall destinations, while nearby beaches on Lake Muskoka and hiking trails through Muskoka’s signature granite and pine landscape extend the holiday. Stay at Inn at the Falls, 1870s estate in downtown Bracebridge, for walking access to all festivities, or book vacation rentals through Lake.com on Lake Muskoka for a true cottage-country Canada Day experience.
