From mid-November through early January, this event welcomes families, couples, pet lovers, and friends to share in the joy of over one million lights illuminating the gardens. Set against the backdrop of Asheville’s Blue Ridge Mountains, the arboretum’s 434 acres of lush landscapes and serene trails provide a picturesque setting for this festive celebration. Stroll through the illuminated paths, discover the Quilt Garden’s vibrant displays, and be enchanted by the towering 50-foot lighted tree that stands as a beacon of holiday cheer.

The Winter Lights event runs from mid-November to early January, with entry times at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. each evening. Highlights include the “Trolls: A Field Study” exhibition by Danish artist Thomas Dambo, featuring six larger-than-life sculptures crafted from reclaimed materials. Visitors can also enjoy live music performances, sip hot cocoa by the fire pits, and explore the expanded Connections Gallery Gift Shop for unique holiday gifts. Tickets are sold per vehicle, with pricing tiers based on demand, and advance purchase is recommended due to high demand.
