Six Wienermobiles race at the Speedway during Carb Day
Catch the fan-favorite Wienie 500 at 2:00 pm, when Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles circle the Brickyard before the Pit Stop Challenge and concert.
Event details
The Oscar Mayer Wienie 500 adds a light, crowd-pleasing race to Indianapolis Motor Speedway during Carb Day. You will watch six Wienermobiles take the 2.5-mile oval in Indianapolis, Indiana, offering a fun counterpoint to the final practice sessions and the Pit Stop Challenge.
Plan to be in your seat by early afternoon for the run, typically a single lap that still delivers plenty of on-track drama and laughter. For the clearest view, aim for the lower grandstands near the start-finish line, where you can see the vehicles cross the bricks before the afternoon concert programming ramps up.
Arrive through the gates by 10:00 AM if you want the best choice of seats before midday crowds build. Carb Day tickets are required and cover the full Friday schedule, including the concert. Bring water and snacks in a cooler, wear sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes, and budget time for the walk from parking to the interior of the oval.
If you want the simplest logistics, stay downtown or in the Speedway area for quick access on event morning. For a quieter base, look at vacation rentals near Eagle Creek Reservoir. Most Carb Day activity runs rain or shine, though track action can pause for a wet surface; pets are not permitted except service animals, and while parking is available, popular lots can sell out, so consider park-and-ride shuttles from downtown.
