Event details

Patriotic Productions Memorial Day Weekend 2026 is a multi city tribute that links Omaha and Lincoln with a shared focus on remembrance. You will see the world’s largest American flag raised at Omaha’s Memorial Park, an immense 250 by 505 feet, supported by military units, Gold Star families, and the public. You can volunteer as part of the large team needed to handle the flag, or you can watch from the lawns with a clear view of the lower park.

In Omaha, plan for a high energy evening program on Friday, May 22, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the flag unfurling, live entertainment, and a drone show. We expect Irish tenor Ronan Tynan to perform, setting a reverent tone before the night’s larger spectacle. Arrive at least 60 minutes before the 7:00 PM practice raising if you want prime space on the grass.

The weekend continues in Omaha on Saturday, May 23, with a Memorial Day parade through the Old Market district, plus additional attractions such as the America One hot air balloon. The series concludes on Monday, May 25, with the official Memorial Day Observance program and ceremony at the state capitol area in Lincoln.

Attendance is free and open to all ages. If you want to help move the flag, you must sign up in advance through the Patriotic Productions website, with roughly 650 volunteers needed. Bring a folding chair and a light jacket for the breezy park conditions after sunset; food vendors are available, though many families bring a small cooler. In light rain most programming continues, but high winds or lightning can delay or cancel the flag raising and drone show; street parking near Memorial Park is limited, so plan on ride share or satellite lots. For lodging, choose Midtown or Downtown Omaha for quick access to Memorial Park and the Old Market, and book the Haymarket district in Lincoln for walkable access to the capitol; service animals are permitted, but loud noise and dense crowds may not suit most pets.
