Event details

Real Time Revolution: The Living History Event turns Fort Ticonderoga into a working Revolutionary War landscape in New York’s Adirondack region. From the high ground above Lake Champlain, you move through ramparts, gardens, and waterfront views while costumed interpreters recreate daily routines and military practice from the 18th century. Plan on an active visit with plenty of walking and frequent chances to ask questions as the fort operates like an open-air museum.

You can expect a focused, educational atmosphere with black powder musket demonstrations, tactical drills, and hands-on context about how soldiers and civilians maintained the site. Spend time speaking with staff about the fort’s design and engineering, then use the day’s schedule to time your visit around firing periods and special presentations. If crowds build inside the main works, step out to the King’s Garden for a calmer pace and lake views.

For a wider perspective, drive up Mount Defiance for a clear look across the full fort complex and the surrounding water. We recommend arriving by 9:30 AM to catch morning programming before the afternoon rush, and wearing sturdy walking shoes for uneven ramparts and gravel paths. Bring layers and sun protection since conditions can shift quickly by the lake and shade is limited in the open gardens.

General admission is $14 and covers two consecutive days, so you can split the fort and Mount Defiance across your weekend. Your ticket also includes the Carillon Battlefield, which is worth adding if you want more context without retracing crowded areas. For lodging, book a historic inn or modern rental in Ticonderoga or nearby Crown Point, or use Lake.com to find lakeside cabins and seasonal homes as a base for your Lake Champlain stay.
