Three nights of stand-up across Newport County
Spring edition of Rhode Island’s premier comedy festival with multiple nightly shows at venues around Newport County. Check the schedule and grab tickets early.
Event details
The Rogue Island Comedy Festival Spring edition brings stand-up to the Rhode Island coast over Memorial Day weekend, with multiple nightly showcases across Newport County. You can catch sets at the Jane Pickens Theater in downtown Newport, then head to Portsmouth for shows at Ragged Island Brewing Company’s brewing barn, with additional stops at venues around the area.
You’ll see a mix of nationally touring headliners and regional comics, with past lineups featuring Natasha Leggero, Ian Lara, and Daily Show writer Matt Koff. Most shows run in a showcase format with five to six comics per session, which makes it easy to sample different styles in one night. We suggest treating the festival like a short circuit: pick one or two venues per evening and build your plans around them.
Plan ahead for the holiday weekend. Buy tickets online early, since headliner sets and weekend passes often sell out weeks in advance, and arrive at least 30 minutes before showtime for general admission seating. Check age policies before you book; Jane Pickens is all-ages, while Top of Pelham is 21+. Dress in layers for cooler evening air, and consider ride-shares or public lots since downtown Newport parking can be slow on peak nights.
For the smoothest logistics, stay in downtown Newport so you can walk to central theaters and the harborfront, and easily fit in dinner on Thames Street or near the wharves between sets. If you prefer a quieter base, Portsmouth puts you closer to the vineyards and brewery venues. You can also look at vacation rentals through Lake.com; lineups can change, and if your first choice sells out, check for late-night additions at Stoneacre Garden.
