Where Smoke Meets the Stage: Silver Dollar City's Bluegrass and BBQ Festival in Branson
Silver Dollar City’s IBMA award-winning Bluegrass and BBQ Festival runs May 7–25, 2026, in Branson, MO, with 65-plus artists including Rhonda Vincent and The Rage, slow-smoked BBQ at the House of BBQ, and all rides operating. Free with park admission.
Event details
Silver Dollar City’s Bluegrass and BBQ Festival is one of the largest dedicated bluegrass events in the country, and the International Bluegrass Music Association has named it the Event of the Year more than once. The 2026 edition runs May 7 through May 25 at Silver Dollar City, 399 Silver Dollar City Pkwy in Branson, Missouri, with more than 65 of the world’s top bluegrass acts performing across multiple stages throughout the 1880s-themed park. This year the festival runs alongside Silver Dollar City’s America’s 250th Birthday Celebration, which adds patriotic programming throughout the season. Standard park admission is required to attend; season passes are available at silverdollarcity.com.
The 2026 lineup features Rhonda Vincent and The Rage, Rick Faris, and Special Consensus, alongside Grammy-nominated acts and the annual Youth in Bluegrass Showcase, which spotlights performers 21 and under who can genuinely hold a stage. Performance venues include the Echo Hollow Amphitheatre, the Boatworks Theater, the Gazebo Stage, and the Dockside area, with music rotating through all of them across the park’s full operating hours. On the food side, the House of BBQ and other stations offer pulled pork, barbecue chicken, and beef brisket slow-smoked by park pitmasters. A Tasting Passport, available separately, gets you five tastings from the limited-time Bluegrass and BBQ menu, a value play for visitors who want to sample broadly without committing to a full plate. Festival-exclusive items this year include an apple caramel funnel cake, watermelon whip cone, and peach cobbler bread pudding.
Beyond the Music
Silver Dollar City’s full ride roster runs throughout the festival. WildFire, the park’s 66-mph steel coaster, and Outlaw Run, the world’s most awarded wooden coaster, both operate on standard schedule. The classic Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train, running since 1963, makes for a slower-paced attraction that parents with younger children tend to appreciate more than any other ride in the park. Marvel Cave, one of Missouri’s deepest caverns and the reason Silver Dollar City was built around it in 1960, offers free guided tours with park admission and provides a cool retreat from the outdoor stages on warm May afternoons.
If You’re Going with Kids
Silver Dollar City’s artisan village features live demonstrations of glassblowing, blacksmithing, and candle making throughout the festival. These are genuinely skilled working craftspeople, not theatrical demonstrations, and children consistently respond to them. Arrive early on weekday mornings for the shortest wait times at the major coasters.
Table Rock Lake and the Water Side of Branson
Silver Dollar City’s Showboat cruises Table Rock Lake on a regular schedule through the festival season, offering a completely different pace from the park itself. Table Rock Lake, formed by the damming of the White River and completed in 1958, covers 43,000 acres with 745 miles of Ozark shoreline and supports some of the region’s best crappie and largemouth bass fishing. Marina-based boat rentals are available at several points along the lake’s north shore, less than 15 minutes from Silver Dollar City’s front gate.
Good to Know
Free parking is available at Silver Dollar City, but the main lots require a shuttle. Paid closer parking and valet options exist for visitors who want to minimize walking at the end of a full day. Buy park tickets in advance to avoid gate queues on peak weekends. The last two weekends of the festival, including Memorial Day weekend, draw the largest crowds.
Where to Stay
Branson has a wide range of lodging options from resort hotels on Table Rock Lake to vacation rentals in the hills above the lake.
