A shamrock-filled parade along Sherman Avenue
Grab a curbside spot for Coeur d’Alene’s St. Patrick’s Parade, where bands and community groups bring the Luck of the Irish downtown.
Event details
Sherman Avenue fills with green on the Saturday closest to March 17, when Coeur d’Alene’s St. Patrick’s Parade brings bagpipers, Irish dancers, vintage cars, and community floats through the heart of downtown. The route runs from 4th Street to 15th Street, with the best curbside viewing near City Park and the library steps, where families set up camp early with blankets and thermoses.
Parade start time is usually 11 a.m., but arrive by 10:15 if you want front-row spots. March weather in North Idaho swings between 40-55°F, so bring layers and a light rain jacket. After the parade wraps (around 12:30 p.m.), downtown pubs open their patios for live music, fish and chips, and Guinness pours that run through early evening.
Turn the parade into a long weekend by staying at a Lake.com property near Tubbs Hill or Sanders Beach, where spring is just starting to green up the shoreline trails. You’ll have easy access to post-parade dining and Sunday morning paddleboard rentals, when the lake is still glassy and quiet before summer season kicks in.
