A creative summer camp in a riverside park
For families staying awhile, Tarrytown ARTS Camp offers music, art, dance, and theater in Kingsland Point Park—week-by-week sessions in July.
Event details
Tarrytown ARTS Camp brings international musicians, dancers, and visual artists to Kingsland Point Park, 299 Palmer Avenue, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591 for three weeks of culturally focused arts education, July 6-24, 2026. Kids entering kindergarten through 4th grade rotate through music workshops exploring Dominican Republic, Mexican, and American rhythms, plus dance, theater, and visual art sessions led by teaching artists from New York City and the region.
Half-day sessions run 8:45 AM to 1:00 PM ($275 per week residents, $290 per week non-residents), while full-day programs extend to 3:15 PM ($400 per week residents, $415 per week non-residents). Registration opens March 1 at tarrytownartscamp.com, with sibling discounts ($25 off total) and scholarship assistance available for families in need.
Director Anna Povich de Mayor moved the camp from indoor spaces to this 18-acre riverfront park built in 1926, taking advantage of six covered pavilions, including the historic Kathryn W. Davis RiverWalk Center bathhouse with open-air classrooms, plus playground areas, picnic tables, and a small beach where kids wade after sessions end. Each Friday brings parent showcases featuring performances and displayed artwork.
The camp attracts 60-80 kids weekly split into age groups, with counselor-led sports activities between arts rotations. Pack sunscreen, water bottles, and lunch daily (no food provided), and arrive by 8:30 AM for smoother drop-off at the park’s entrance accessed via Palmer Avenue Bridge over Metro-North tracks. Parking costs $5 with Westchester County park pass or Sleepy Hollow resident permit, $10 without.
Beyond Multi Arts Camp, specialized sessions include Clay Camp (July 6-10 and July 13-17, 9:15 AM to 2:30 PM, $415 per week), where kids work on potter’s wheels with Sleepy Hollow High School faculty Mary Cincotta, and Arch Camp (July 20-24, 9:15 AM to 2:30 PM, $340 per week), where campers design musical instrument-inspired buildings.
Older kids entering 5th through 8th grade can join Exploratory Art Afternoons (1:15 PM to 3:15 PM, $160 per week), combining visual art with theater confidence-building. The camp’s 2026 theme focuses on rhythm through cultural traditions, featuring guest artists like Quisqueyanos (Dominican folkloric musicians) and renowned director Pablo Mayor teaching Afro-Cuban clave and jazz improvisation.
