Cortez Racing Association, situated at the heart of San Diego’s vibrant sailing community, has been a cornerstone of Corinthian sailboat racing since its inception in January 1980. Founded under the guidance of Barry Cohen, the association held its first race in April of that year and has since become an integral part of the local yachting scene. With over 200 active members, many of whom are also affiliated with other Southern California yacht clubs, CRA fosters a spirit of competitive yet family-oriented racing.
Located in the vicinity of Harbor Island, CRA’s activities span the expansive waters of San Diego Bay, offering a diverse range of race events and social gatherings. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and member of the United States Sailing Association, CRA is committed to promoting sailing excellence and community engagement. Its modest annual dues and small initiation fee make it accessible to a broad spectrum of sailing enthusiasts, ensuring that the joy of sailing remains a vibrant and inclusive tradition in San Diego. CRA’s active Board of Directors works tirelessly to enhance the quality of its events, making it a dynamic and enriching experience for all members.
