BEGINNINGS: Edmonds Yacht Club (EYC) was founded in 1961 in conjunction with the opening of the Port of Edmonds boat harbor as a focal point for those who wished to enhance their enjoyment of boat ownership with the social camaraderie of fellow boaters. Our membership consists of a wide spectrum of boaters, from families with young children to retired grandparents and a whole bunch of in between. We are one of the most active cruising clubs in Puget Sound and our members collectively have hundreds of years of boating experience and are happy to help new members with their questions.CRUISES: There are five formal club weekend cruises each year that have organized meals and entertainment for each day along with plenty of time to relax. There are also numberous casual cruises each year to destinations like Langley, Bell Harbor in Seattle, Everett and Poulsbo where members enjoy organizing their own happy hour on the docks and meals in local restaurants. Families are welcome at all our cruises! Each summer the club offers the Commodore’s Cruise which is usually a week or longer trip. Dozens of boats join for the cruise within both Washington and British Columbia destinations.OTHER EVENTS: During the non-cruising part of the year, we have special events that include themed dinners, education nights and a spring auction. We hold monthly General Meetings with a happy hour, a sit-down dinner followed by the club business. Once a month we also have a “Thank Goodness it Floats” (TGIF) casual dinner at the club house, a women’s meeting, a men’s luncheon and a book club meeting.IN ADDITION…beyond cruises and dinners, being a member of EYC means you will make lifelong friends, have a group of people who you can discuss issues and get advice on boating destinations, seafaring skills, navigation tips, and help on boat maintenance, repairs and upgrades.
