The Lodge at Leathem Smith, situated at 1640 Memorial Drive in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, is a testament to a rich and storied past. Originally founded in 1922 by Leathem Smith, a renowned builder of diesel vessels, this historic resort began as Door County’s first country club and golf course. The property, spanning 100 acres, was later transformed into the Leathem Smith Lodge, one of the pioneering resorts in the region.

After a period of decline and closure, the lodge was revitalized in 2011 by Paul Meleen, a professional fisherman and chef. Meleen’s meticulous restoration honored the original charm, preserving the 102-year-old ballroom with its high ceilings and beautiful wood beams, while integrating modern amenities. Today, the Lodge at Leathem Smith offers waterfront lodging, fine dining, entertainment, and marina access, blending historical elegance with contemporary comfort in the heart of Sturgeon Bay. Its enduring legacy is a seamless blend of tradition and innovation, making it a unique and captivating destination for luxury travelers.
