Oconto Yacht Club

The Oconto Yacht Club, situated at 1781 Yacht Club Road in Oconto, Wisconsin, stands as a testament to maritime tradition and community spirit. Established on December 14, 1947, this working club is located on the Oconto River, along the western shore of Green Bay. Here, members take pride in their hands-on approach, participating in two annual work parties to maintain the club’s facilities, including docks, yard maintenance, and boat lifting, which helps keep dues manageable.

The club boasts a diverse membership of power boaters and sailors, with amenities such as pre-purchased gasoline and full pump-out services. A large grill and a riverside fire pit are central to the club’s social gatherings, where members enjoy impromptu lunches and evening gatherings. The site itself has historical significance, as it was once the location of Huff Jones’s steam-powered lumber mill, built in 1849. Today, the Oconto Yacht Club offers a welcoming environment with well-maintained slips, flower gardens, and picnic tables, making it an idyllic setting for those who appreciate the beauty of the water and the camaraderie of a close-knit community.
