The Olympia Yacht Club, situated at 201 N. Simmons Street in Olympia, Washington, is a venerable maritime institution with a rich history dating back to 1889. Originally founded as the Olympia Motor Boat Club, it was reactivated in 1908 and formally incorporated in 1904 as one of the first 14 yacht clubs in the Puget Sound. By 1915, the club had established its moorings near the Fourth Avenue bridge, alongside the oyster houses of J.J. Brenner and Olympia Oyster Company.

The clubhouse, which has undergone several transformations, features a distinctive false lighthouse built in 1930. The current facility, constructed in the 1950s, retains this historic lighthouse as a poignant reminder of its past. The Olympia Yacht Club has hosted numerous significant events, including the annual Opening Day celebrations since 1925, which have been accompanied by the Olympia American Legion Band. This maritime hub continues to serve as a hub for sailing enthusiasts and a testament to Olympia’s nautical heritage. Its blend of historical charm and modern amenities makes it a compelling destination for those who appreciate the elegance of yachting and the beauty of the Puget Sound.
