Southwestern Yacht Club

SWYC was founded in 1925 by passionate yachting enthusiasts. They envisioned a community where they could enjoy each other’s company and share their love for boating.

Southwestern Yacht Club, located at 2702 Qualtrough Street in San Diego’s prestigious Point Loma area, proudly calls itself “the friendliest yacht club in San Diego!” This historic club welcomes boaters with a modern 15,000 sq/ft Clubhouse featuring The Chart Room restaurant and bar, complete with stunning views of San Diego Bay. While primarily a membership club, SWYC offers reciprocal privileges to visiting yacht club members and hosts various public events throughout the year.

The club’s signature event is the annual Benefit on the Bay, featuring a fishing tournament, sailboat racing, and gala. The Chart Room serves a variety of soups, salads and burgers, with dining available Tuesday through Sunday, including weekend brunch service. The outdoor deck spaces offer spectacular bay views, making sunset dining particularly magical, with optimal viewing typically between 6:00-7:30 PM depending on season. The club’s unmatched location provides quick access to San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean, while 385 member slips and guest docks accommodate visiting boaters.

Over the years, SWYC has grown into a full-service Club with over 900 Members who participate in various yachting, fishing and social activities year-round. Renowned for its friendly atmosphere, the Club continues to uphold its reputation as the friendliest yacht club in the area.
