Scheduled for December 7, 2024, this free annual event in the Town of Bala offers an immersive journey through a recreated biblical village celebrating the true meaning of Christmas. Guided tours lead visitors along a path that tells the story of the first Christmas, featuring actors portraying Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus, shepherds, Roman soldiers, the Magi, and a choir of angels.

The trek begins with Christmas carols and ends at the “Jerusalem Inn,” where guests enjoy refreshments like hot chocolate and cookies. Held at the Bala Community Centre, this outdoor event is supported entirely by volunteers from Bala and welcomes all ages​.

Bala’s Trek to Bethlehem began in 1993, with this being the event’s 22nd year. Fun for the entire family, Bala’s Trek to Bethlehem is held annually on the first Saturday of December. Dress for the weather, as this event is held outdoors! Pets are not allowed at this event, so please leave them safely at home.

Santa’s Village
