Kansas’ first state park turns into a runner’s playground for the Rockin K Trail Runs, a spring classic set above Kanopolis Lake in the Smoky Hills. Families can make a day of it, cheering from shaded bluffs, wandering easy sections of trail, and spotting limestone outcrops and little creeks that wake up after winter.
When the finish line photos are done, stay for a picnic and a shoreline stroll, or plan a weekend with boating and fishing on the reservoir. If you want more time outdoors, book a nearby lake cabin and wake up to calm water and big-sky sunrise.
